COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY

You may have arrived here in search of counselling support & guidance to understand & process some significant issues that you have been facing in your life. Whether these issues are clear or vague, niggling or intrusive, individual or relational, I hope to be able to help.

Reflecting on my own journey, it is the experience of safe connection & genuine care in key relationships that has ensured my deepening awareness of self, personal growth, embodied healing, & capacity for acceptance. In turn, I have become passionate about working with people as a Counsellor & Psychotherapist, & I endeavour to offer the same gifts via the therapeutic relationship, to assist personal development & healing.

I believe our deepest wounds occur in relationship, but so too can profound healing when there is a sense of safety & trust in the relationship and the relational field. As a Counsellor & Psychotherapist, I value a relational approach & endeavour to help create a felt sense of empathy & collaboration, which is the basis upon which self understanding & healing can expand & quality of life can be improved.

I also respect the uniqueness & sacredness of human experience, & I highly value individual autonomy & agency. Therefore, I endeavour to provide an embodied sense of curiosity & exploration (instead of assessment & judgement), & authentic alliance & unity (instead of interpretation & instruction) in my practice.

I understand the courage it takes to engage in a therapeutic process, & so I always endeavour to create safety & hold the space, with deep compassion & precise attunement.

In doing so, we can aim to enhance capacity for:

  • Containment & self regulation;

  • Mindful exploration of cognitive, emotional & somatic experience in relation to specific issues or triggers;

  • Understanding patterns of experience, behaviour & beliefs (& their origin);

  • Discernment of patterns as helpful or unhelpful in the present context;

  • Safe processing of relevant traumatic material & / or attachment themes; &

  • Enhancing resources, adaptability & overall functioning.

As a member of the Australian Counselling (ACA), I adhere to:

I strive for my work to be consistent with the principals of relational alchemy, non-violence & organicity. My broad training, diverse experience, & eclectic skillset helps me to be flexible in the style & focus of therapy, based on one's individual needs. Ultimately, I endeavour to create a tender & nurturing space for people to access their most authentic selves, from which they can notice, understand & attend to their adaptive patterns, on the journey towards more peace & better quality of life.

RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING

Relationship Counselling & Psychotherapy can provide couples with the opportunity to process & make sense of their relational dynamic & behavioural patterns in a safe way, leading to healing from negative cycles & unconscious attachment processes & reconnection.

Couples have typically sought relationship counselling with me for a variety of reasons, including issues with:

Trust

Infidelity

Communication

Relationship Distress

Loss of Intimacy and / or Emotional Connection

Parenting Difficulties / Disagreements

Life Stage Changes

I aim to help people enhance their understanding of the 'self' & the 'other' in the context of their relationship & through a lens of attachment theory, so that repair, healing and reconnection can be possible. My objective is to create & hold the space for this healing & reconnection to occur.

In the case where seperation has been decided, seperation counselling can help both individuals understand the contributing factors to the relationship breakdown, so as to help them avoid repeating unhelpful patterns of the past in future relationships, as well as helping them achieve closure & direction (including regarding parenting, if applicable).
